01

Be A Role Model

We believe that students can’t be what they can’t see. DreamWakers’ volunteer speakers represent not only varied career paths but also diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as gender identities. We are able to connect students with vetted role models that are inspiring and relatable.

02

Volunteer From Your Desk (Or Home!)

Our unique volunteering model makes it easier than ever to give back. Using your phone, tablet, or computer you can connect to classrooms across the country without even leaving the office or your home.

03

Share Your Passion + Purpose

Speakers share that the experience of articulating their reasoning for pursuing a career in their field is fulfilling and furthers professional development.

04

Inspire A Generation

By speaking directly with the next generation of young talent you can inspire students to pursue careers in your sector and increase awareness of your work.

Frequently Asked Questions

A:  DreamWakers flashchat lasts approximately 45 minutes and can be conducted anywhere you are able to connect to internet. No need to leave the office, and easy to do over your lunch break!

A: We know our speakers’ time is valuable and pride ourselves on making your experience as seamless as possible. Speakers should be prepared with a 3-5 minute introduction: who they are, what they do, and anything else they feel like sharing! Many speakers like to prepare a short deck with a few images to show, which goes a long way in building rapport with the students. Check out some example intro presentations here to spark your own creativity!

After that, the flashchat follows a student-led Q&A format, with classes having researched and prepared questions for you in advance of the conversation.

For more information on how to prepare, check out our detailed Speaker Guide here!

A: No two flashchats are alike; students’ questions may be related to your professional, academic, and/or personal perspectives. Expect a diverse series of questions that touch each on these themes, such as: What skills, classes, or degrees would you recommend someone look into if they’re interested in a career like yours? In your life, who has supported or inspired you? If you could go back in time, what advice would you give a younger version of yourself? What is the most rewarding part of your job?

A: We look forward to connecting with you! Start by filling out our Speaker Interest Form, which should take about 10 minutes. From there, a member of our team will reach out with more information.

A: Word of mouth is one of the most consistent ways that we grow. Thank you for your excitement about bringing in fantastic professionals from your network. They can fill out our Speaker Interest Form and we’ll be in touch. You can also share this one-pager with more context about DreamWakers.
